Under the Creativity category, I volunteered for a CAS experience in the Farewell decor team. I was assigned to work on several of the decor elements executed in the final Farewell held for the Batch of 2025. I supported in the brainstorming of ideas as well as the on-paper execution. The event’s decor was a success and a lot of people complemented our work. The 12th graders evening was made more stunning through the decor. I was able to collaborate with a team of students working on the decor along with the core committee and teachers that supported the organizing. The entire experience of working on the decor was fun and enriching, however it required a lot of determination in order to spend time on it.
LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The Farewell decor went through several ups and downs wherein we faced challenges with team coordination and getting everyone to participate. However, we did our best and got all the work done on time. We also faced challenges in working with the resources provided and applying artistic skills on the same to create an aesthetically pleasing theme for the day. It was important to overcome these challenges to make the decor successful enough for everyone to be satisfied with and to efficiently finish the work on time. It was important to go through these challenges to get used to working in a decor team and to know more people involved in it.
LO 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
This CAS experience required a lot of perseverance along with dedication to work on the decor. We were supposed to come early to school everyday along with a few class pull-outs on the last days which required us to compromise on academic learning and dedicate ourselves to the decor work. We needed to be committed to our end goal and we tried our best to achieve it. It was important to be committed in order to bring our vision to life.
Through the Farewell decor, I was able to improve on my communication skills along with my problem solving skills. I interacted with several people in the school staff for various departments and collaborated with them effectively. I also used problem solving to overcome the challenges we faced that were small to large scaled at times. I also demonstrated the learner profile attributes of thinkers, communicators, and principled. I was able to brainstorm ideas for the decor to support the core committee in forming a plan. I was also principled with the work I was provided and managed my time and responsibilities well. The decor experience has helped me learn and brush up on several arts/crafts skills along with teamwork and dedication.
The farewell was a success through the hardwork of the decor and dance team, and it was an amazing experience to be a part of it!
