Global Odyssey 2025

Every year, the Global Odyssey Event provides students with an invaluable opportunity to experience entrepreneurship firsthand. This year, my team and I set up our own food stall, where we sold cheese balls and donuts to engage customers and generate profits. However, beyond just running a business, we decided to donate our earnings to charity, integrating social responsibility into our entrepreneurial journey. This experience tested our creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, making it an enriching learning experience.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through this initiative, I discovered my strengths in customer engagement and financial management. I enjoyed interacting with customers, persuading them to try our food, and ensuring they had a pleasant experience. Additionally, I effectively kept track of expenses and revenues, ensuring profitability. However, I also identified areas for growth, such as improving efficiency in food preparation and time management during peak hours. The experience taught me the importance of balancing multiple responsibilities while maintaining quality service.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Running a food stall came with numerous challenges, from managing inventory and handling large crowds to ensuring food quality and hygiene. We had to quickly adapt to unexpected situations, such as running out of ingredients and modifying our pricing strategy based on customer demand. This experience helped me develop problem-solving and adaptability skills, as well as a better understanding of business operations. Additionally, I learned the importance of effective communication and delegation in managing tasks efficiently.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The journey from ideation to execution required a great deal of perseverance and dedication. Preparing food in bulk, managing continuous customer flow, and ensuring everything ran smoothly demanded hard work and patience. Despite facing exhaustion and unexpected hurdles, we stayed committed to our goals, adapting to challenges and maintaining a positive attitude. This experience emphasized the importance of resilience in achieving success.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Teamwork was at the heart of our success. Each team member had distinct roles, from cooking and managing the cash register to marketing and customer service. By dividing tasks and supporting one another, we created a cohesive and productive working environment. Effective communication and conflict resolution were key in ensuring seamless operations. This experience highlighted the significance of collaboration in achieving shared goals.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance
One of the most fulfilling aspects of our project was our decision to donate our profits to charity. This act of social responsibility reminded us that businesses can play a crucial role in making a positive impact on society. We donated our earnings to the NGO Divyang, which supports differently-abled individuals, reinforcing our commitment to meaningful social change. By contributing to a noble cause, we aligned our entrepreneurial efforts with a broader global issue—helping those in need. This experience reinforced the importance of ethical entrepreneurship and giving back to the community.

In conclusion, the Global Odyssey event was an eye-opening experience that blended business, teamwork, and social responsibility. It provided me with valuable skills in entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and collaboration while reinforcing the importance of ethical business practices. The lessons learned from this event will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors, both in business and in contributing to society.
