I chose community service by teaching underprivileged kids about frisbee. childern played, learned new skills, and built teamwork through the game. It was a fun way to connect, share joy, and give them something different to enjoy.
LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
While teaching frisbee to the kids, I realized it wasn’t easy to keep their attention at first, since many of them got distracted quickly. I had to come up with small games and fun challenges to make them stay interested, which was new for me. This experience really tested my patience and pushed me to explain things more clearly. In the end, I felt I developed better communication and leadership skills through this challenge.
LO3:Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
When I decided to teach frisbee, I had to plan how to structure the sessions so they were fun but also meaningful. At first, it felt challenging because I wasn’t sure how to balance teaching with keeping the kids engaged. I made a small schedule with warm-ups, simple drills, and games so the kids could learn step by step. Planning it out myself gave me confidence and showed me I could take initiative and manage an activity on my own.
LO6:Engagement with issues of global significance.
While teaching frisbee, I became aware that many children don’t get equal chances to enjoy sports and activities. This made me realize the wider issue of inequality in access to recreation.
By engaging with them, I felt I was helping in a small way to reduce this gap.
It showed me how local actions can still connect to global issues.
Overall, teaching frisbee to underprivileged kids was challenging but fun. I learned new things like being patient, leading the group, and planning the sessions. It also made me realize that not everyone gets the same chances and even small actions can help. This CAS experience helped me grow, take initiative, and stay committed to something important.
