This was my CAS project. I collaborated with 2 other classmates to come up with the names of both the DP wings and design room name tags for each class in the wings. The goal was to come up with ideas which would improve the DP wings’ identity and create a welcoming school environment. As we discussed ideas, exchanged feedback and improved our designs, this project involved imagination, collaboration, and clear communication. We were able to create names and name tags that reflected the core values of our school community by the end. Our goal was to develop our creativity and teamwork while making a good difference at the school.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. The strengths were creativity but the weaknesses were execution and design. I was able to work upon it and further improve since I had become aware of it. It is important for us to realize our strengths and weaknesses as they allow us to grow and learn new things constantly. They push us far ahead in life. I already did work on my weaknesses and would like to work further because I believe I have not perfectly overcame them yet but would like to convert them into a strength fully. Overcoming this fully would have made this project more easier and faster to complete without any stress.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Coming up with names and executing and brainstorming the perfect and right designs for this project was challenging because although I am creative and was able to use my creativity throughout, I was not able to properly communicate and execute the right way I wanted. I have also not done anything ever like this before. Thankfully, I was able to overcoming these challenged with the help and inputs of my teammates. After undertaking this challenge, I feel like I can overcome more challenges like these in life now that I have experienced them. Undertaking challenges is crucial because they teach us different ways of problem solving in life. I also discovered new skills of mine like the ability to think critically about design aesthetics and functionality while working collaboratively with people. I never knew that I could combine creativity with problem solving to develop practical solutions. This skill will be useful to me in the future as this enhances my ability to work with people, share ideas, and approach challenges in a creative manner. These will help me academically and professionally both. Harnessing this skill has made me more confident and learning new skills is really important because it helps us overcome challenges and adapt to any new situation in life.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working with others is generally easy for me and since this was a group project, it was easy for me this time too! We were constantly communicating and sharing ideas. There was effective collaboration too. There was this one instance where a teammate was a little difficult to be with but with communication and patience, it was handled. Collaborating and working together is crucial as it requires the combination of everyone’s personal strengths, sharing of different ideas, and reach the final goal properly. Each person contributed in their own way and without any of the teammates on this projects, the completion would not have been possible because each member played a significant role in this experience. We brainstormed creative ideas, shared responsibilities, and improved upon our work effectively. We ensured that our decisions were well thought out and reflected the essence of our school. Collaboration helps improve problem-solving, communication, and understanding of different perspectives while creating a healthy environment of team work and mutual respect. It also prepares us for any situations in life where working with others will be crucial for success. This project also taught me valuable lessons about leadership like actively listening to others, taking initiative, and guiding discussions to keep the project focused and productive.

This CAS experience helped me develop learner profile attributes like Communicator, Creative Thinker, and Collaborator. By designing room name tags and naming DP wings, I enhanced my creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The activity connected to subjects like Business Management, where creativity and decision-making are crucial. The highlight was seeing our designs implemented, benefiting the school community and creating a welcoming environment. I gained confidence, took intellectual risks, and learned the value of collaboration and empathy. Moving forward, I will apply these skills to future projects, aiming to contribute positively to my community and society through creative and meaningful work. This project was successful especially because of all the members involved in collaboration.
