LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I realized that I have the strength of working patiently and carefully when handling plants, ensuring they were planted correctly. At the same time, I noticed an area for growth: I lacked prior knowledge about plant species and how to care for them. By the end of the drive, I had improved in this area by learning plant names and understanding their requirements.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
Since the plantation drive took place over three weekends, it required consistency and commitment. Even when the weather was hot and tiring, I kept going because I understood the long-term impact of our work. Returning each weekend and seeing the progress gave me motivation to continue contributing.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.
Plantation drives address a global issue: environmental sustainability. Deforestation and climate change affect all of us, and by planting trees, I felt connected to a larger global effort of reducing carbon footprints and protecting the planet. Even though my contribution was small, it is a step towards a greener future, and it reminded me how individual actions can collectively make a difference.
LO7 – Recognise and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions
This activity made me reflect on the ethical responsibility humans hold towards nature. I realised that choosing to plant trees instead of ignoring environmental issues is a conscious ethical decision that impacts future generations. By planting instead of cutting down, we act responsibly towards the planet and promote sustainability. It also made me think about how small ethical actions, like taking care of saplings, can set a positive example for others in the community.
This experience not only taught me more about plants but also made me more aware of my responsibility towards the environment.
