Cross Country- Activity

I participated in the Cross Country event which was organized by the school’s sports department. There were three cross-country races, each lasting 3 km. It was a great opportunity to test my stamina and speed and complete the run. I also secured first place for girls.

Learning Outcome 1 : Identifying own strengths and weakness

Participating in the cross-country run provided a valuable opportunity to assess my strengths and identify areas for growth. Through consistent training, I discovered my ability to maintain a steady pace over long distances, demonstrating strong endurance and discipline. However, I also recognized that I needed to work on sprints since sprinting is very useful at the end of marathons for better timing. Reflecting on this experience has helped me set specific goals for my future training, including short-distance sprints to improve my speed and sprints.

Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

I had to develop resilience, particularly during long runs when the temptation to slow down or stop was strong. Through this process, I developed new skills, including strategic pacing and breathing techniques, which significantly improved my stamina. Additionally, I learned to break down long runs into manageable segments, which helped maintain motivation. Embracing these challenges not only enhanced my running skills but also strengthened my perseverance and mental toughness.

Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

My commitment to the cross-country run extended beyond the race day. It involved intense workouts with a balanced diet which made me prepare for the race. There were days when maintaining this routine was difficult, especially when balancing academic responsibilities and social activities. However, I remained dedicated to my training plan, pushing through moments of low motivation and fatigue. On race day, this perseverance paid off, as I not only completed the run but also achieved a personal best time. This experience reinforced the importance of consistent effort and discipline in achieving long-term goals.

Overall, participating in the cross-country run was a rewarding experience that helped me recognize my strengths, develop new skills, and build perseverance. I learned the value of setting goals, pushing through challenges, and maintaining commitment. This experience not only improved my fitness but also taught me important life lessons about resilience and dedication, which I will carry forward into future endeavors.
