On 25th July, we went on a trek to Bhavar Kada Waterfall. I was excited when I first heard about the opportunity because I enjoy adventurous activities. However, I hadn’t anticipated how harsh the weather conditions would be. It rained almost the entire time we were hiking, which made the paths slippery and difficult to cross. Even though I usually like the rain, it was extremely cold and uncomfortable, and even raincoats didn’t help much. The trek lasted around 3–4 hours, and although it was physically and mentally tiring at times, it was also a new and memorable experience that I am glad I took part in.
LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
This trek presented several challenges, especially physical endurance, which has never been a strong skill of mine. Navigating steep downhill paths was particularly difficult as they were unstable and slippery due to the constant rain. I slipped and fell once or twice, which at first made me nervous about continuing. However, as the trek went on, I learned how to place my steps more carefully and adjusted to the conditions, gradually becoming more confident. By the end, I had not only improved my physical endurance but also developed better awareness of how to tackle such trails safely.
LO4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
The most testing part of this trek was maintaining commitment despite the challenging conditions. The heavy rain, cold winds, and steep climbs made it very tempting to stop or slow down. At times, the uphill stretches were exhausting, and every step required determination. Despite the discomfort, I stayed focused on completing the trek, reminding myself that finishing was part of the experience I had chosen to take on. I realized that perseverance is more about mindset than physical ability—encouraging myself and others along the way helped me push through fatigue. Completing the trek gave me a strong sense of achievement and showed me the importance of resilience when facing uncomfortable or tiring challenges.
