Over the past few days, I have participated in three cross country marathons, each of which challenged me both physically and mentally. These experiences were not only about running long distances but also about understanding my own strengths, overcoming challenges, and committing to sustained effort.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:
Through these marathons, I was able to reflect on my endurance and perseverance. I discovered that I am capable of maintaining a steady pace over long distances, which is one of my strengths. At the same time, I realized that I needed to improve my recovery techniques and hydration strategies, as fatigue sometimes slowed me down. Recognizing these areas for growth helped me plan better for each successive marathon.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:
Running three marathons was a significant challenge for me, as cross country routes often involve varied terrain and demanding conditions. Completing them required not only physical stamina but also mental resilience. By continuously training and adapting my strategy, I developed new skills such as pacing myself, managing energy levels, and keeping a positive mindset despite physical exhaustion.
LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences:
Training consistently and showing up for each marathon demonstrated my perseverance. There were moments when I felt discouraged, especially when my body felt sore or when the weather conditions were tough, but my commitment to finishing what I started kept me motivated. Participating in all three marathons highlighted my dedication to this CAS experience and my willingness to persist even when faced with difficulties.
Overall, participating in these marathons has been a rewarding journey. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowed me to grow as both an athlete and an individual, and instilled in me the importance of resilience and determination.
