Global odyssey

I was part of an event called Global Odyssey where I had a food stall with a friend. This activity was fun and productive because I was able to discover new things about myself, tackle challenges, engage in collaborative work and also we donated some amount of money to NGO. This activity contributes greatly to several CAS objectives, particularly LO1, LO2, and LO5.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth Screen reader support enabled.

Through this, I was able to recognize my areas of strength and those that need improvement. I understood that I was good with organizing people since I was able to plan the menu, buy ingredients, and even prepare a budget. Additionally, there were also gaps to cover revolving around time management and customer relations. This experience gave me the opportunity to improve on these as I strived to balance quality and efficiency in serving customers.

LO2:  Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

Working a food stall certainly had its challenges. From food safety to service during peak hours, I had to learn to think on my feet and effectively resolve issues. Perhaps one of the hardest parts was dealing with the balance of being able to prepare food and having enough ready to meet the demand. From this, I learned how to be a successful multi-tasker. All in all, I also gained knowledge on how to charge a price to make a profit but remain affordable.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Working with my friend was a key part of this experience. We divided responsibilities effectively where I focused on customer interactions and managing the stall’s finances, my friend took charge of food preparation. Our collaboration ensured the stall ran smoothly, and we supported each other whenever needed. Effective communication and teamwork were essential in maintaining efficiency and keeping customers satisfied.

To conclude participating in Global Odyssey by running a food stall was an incredibly rewarding experience. It not only helped me identify and build upon my strengths but also pushed me to develop new skills in problem solving and teamwork. The event strengthened the importance of collaboration and adaptability in overcoming challenges. Looking back, I am proud of what we accomplished and grateful for the valuable lessons learned through this CAS experience as an activity.
