DEP – AS

Dance has always been something I truly connect with, and when given the chance to engage in the dance educational program during AS slots, I saw it as the perfect way to balance the heavy workload of the DP with something that helps me stay grounded and express myself. Over the course of two terms, my peers and I learnt four dances across different genres and styles. This not only enriched my skills as a dancer but also gave me valuable life lessons.

LO3:Initiating and Planning
Choosing to commit to the dance program was an intentional decision on my part. I knew that DP would bring intense academic stress, so I planned to invest my time in something creative and fulfilling to maintain balance in my life. This planning allowed me to integrate both academics and a passion project into my weekly schedule, keeping me motivated and engaged.

LO4:Perseverance and Commitment
The process of learning four different dance pieces across two terms required consistent practice, focus, and discipline. At times, it was challenging to juggle rehearsals with academic deadlines, but my commitment to the program pushed me to manage my time better. Showing up regularly, putting in effort during every session, and not giving up when routines got tough all reflect the perseverance that this experience nurtured in me.

LO7:Ethics and Reflection
This program also made me reflect on the ethical importance of making healthy choices for myself. By choosing to dedicate time to dance alongside academics, I ensured that I maintained a sense of balance and well-being, rather than letting stress overwhelm me. Additionally, as part of a group, I had to be respectful of others’ progress, be patient, and contribute equally to make our performances successful. These small but significant ethical choices helped create a supportive and positive learning environment.
