FSGotTalent – Activity

Being a part of FSGotTalent this year was a completely new experience for me as I stepped away from my usual activities in sports and academics and instead contributed as a member of the decor team. For me, this wasn’t just about decorating a venue, it was about contributing to an event that brought the school community together.

LO3: Demonstrating how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Working for the decor team made me realize the importance of planning. At first, the ideas were scattered, from getting materials ready to final placement on the day of the event. It was a learning experience in how effective planning and initiative can transform vague ideas into a well-executed result. I learned that good planning isn’t just about being creative, it’s about ensuring practicality, feasibility, and coordination with the larger event team.

LO6: Demonstrating engagement with issues of global significance

one issue that came up was sustainability. For an event of this scale, it would have been easy to use single-use plastic or thermocol materials for a quick and flashy setup. But as a team, we consciously decided to minimize waste by reusing older decor pieces, repurposing chart papers, and making handmade decorations instead of purchasing excessive new items. This small step connected with the larger global concern of environmental sustainability. It made me reflect on how even small actions at the school level can reduce waste and promote responsible consumption. It was encouraging to see that our creativity didn’t have to come at the cost of the environment.

LO7: Recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions

It also made me aware of the ethical responsibility of fairness and inclusivity. Each performance represented diverse talents, and it was our duty to make sure the stage looked equally welcoming for everyone, without favoring a particular group or act. Additionally, while working on preparations, I had to make responsible choices about balancing my academics and commitments so that my involvement didn’t compromise other priorities. These small but thoughtful decisions helped me recognize how ethics plays a role even in creative projects like event decor.

Concluding, my journey with FSGotTalent taught me about working quietly behind the scenes. It gave me hands-on experience in planning, teamwork, sustainability, and ethical responsibility.
