Global Odyssey – Creativity

As an part of my CAS experience I participated in global odyssey 5.0, an student – led event organised by the students of Business Management and Economics. Global Odyssey was one of the most fun school events I’ve been part of this year. It was completely student-led and brought together different departments like food, fashion, decoration, and entertainment. I worked in a team of five friends, and we ran a football game stall. We set up a small goalpost, and one of us played as the defender. Participants had to score against the defender to win a prize. It turned out to be a big hit and brought a lot of energy to the event.

LO1. Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

This event helped me realize that I’m good at communicating with others and keeping things organized under pressure. I naturally took charge of explaining the rules and managing the crowd. But I also saw that I need to improve my time management we underestimated how long setup would take, which stressed us out at the start. It’s something I’ll work on in future events.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Running the stall was a completely new challenge. I quickly adapted by creating a fair rotation system without physical tokens where each child took a turn. I improvised rules on the spot. if someone had just played, the next turn would go to another waiting player. I explained the process calmly, diffused potential frustration, and kept the atmosphere light and fun.

LO3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

We came up with the football game idea as a group and planned everything from materials to roles. I helped figure out how the flow of the game would work, what we needed (like goal post, ball, and prizes), and how to set it up. It taught me a lot about working with a team and organizing something from start to finish.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Even with all the schoolwork, I committed fully to making this event successful. We stayed from morning till the school ended, handled the crowd, and made sure everyone had fun. It got tiring at times, but we didn’t give up.

Conclusion

Global Odyssey taught me a lot about myself, about working with others, and about applying what we learn in class to real situations. It was a great mix of fun and learning, and I’m proud of the role I played in making it a success.
