I did a live online course of 2 months from Edu Fabrica in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad called Earth Science, which explored the subtopics of earth science in detail. For the final class, we had to write a review paper about one of the subtopics. This interested me and helped me learn more about an unknown subject.
LO 1 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
My personal strength, which I was able to identify, was curiosity. This curiosity led me to explore my areas of interest and growth, which was the Earth. I loved the planet but knew little about it, its science, and its tendencies. My urge to change that became a catalyst in selecting this course and dedicating time to it. I was able to understand and pinpoint what exactly interests me in the broad area of earth science and explore ideas about the same. After the course, my knowledge of the subject grew, and I was also able to grow as a student in terms of sincerity and attention.
LO 2 -Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
As this was a live online class, there were a lot of times when I wasn’t free at the class time because of some or other personal engagement. Because of this, I had to cover up a lot of the backlog the next day, which became a bit difficult for me as a school student. It took me a lot of time management and a routine setup to attend classes on time, take notes, and learn the material so that I was able to make the most out of the classes. But watching the recording also made me unable to get my doubts solved on the spot.
LO 3 -Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
Completing the Earth Science course required dedication and perseverance. Balancing it with my IB coursework was challenging, but I remained committed to attending sessions, engaging in discussions, and completing assignments on time. The course deepened my understanding of key environmental concepts, such as climate change and geological processes. Despite technical difficulties and demanding schedules, I pushed through, staying focused on my learning goals. This experience strengthened my ability to stay disciplined and manage my time effectively, reinforcing my passion for Earth science and its real-world applications.
