Global Odyssey was an exercise where business management students created a marketplace. My team was responsible for decoration, and we had a food stall selling pasta, coffee, and brownies. I learned teamwork, problem-solving, and business operations from the exercise. I understood budgeting, customer service, and time management. Organizing and carrying out the exercise gave me insight into event planning and business operations, and it was a valuable learning experience.
LO 3 – Illustrate how to plan and initiate a CAS experience
We planned our stall well by choosing the menu, handling the ingredients, setting the prices, and advertising our food. We controlled the quality of our products but minimized costs. Financial management and operations enhanced my organizational and leadership abilities. It made me better understand business management and acquire planning.
LO 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
It was not an easy task to run a food stall. We had to prepare food on time, receive orders from customers, and handle unforeseen issues like running out of ingredients. Despite long working hours and stress, we were committed to serving well. To see customers happy and our products sold out made it all worth it. I learned to be patient, responsible, and persistent from this experience.
LO 5 – Show ability to work in teams and appreciate the advantages of teamwork
Teamwork was the major factor in our stall’s success. We shared the work effectively—some of us prepared food, while others sold and issued customer service. Effective communication and teamwork made everything go smoothly. Teamwork made the process less complicated and more enjoyable. From this experience, I understood that teamwork produces better results and a more successful event.
