IntroductionMy experience in Mohakmal, Dang, was a new and exciting experience that challenged me out of my comfort zone. I had to adapt to a new setting, bargain for groceries, and cook meals for a local hostel. Waking up early for learning excursions and distributing books to poor children taught me a lot. This experience made me more assertive, independent, and attuned to social causes. It taught me the value of serving others and learning from other cultures.
LO 1 – Identify own strengths and areas for improvement
This trip helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses. Bargaining for food helped me realize that I had to improve my confidence and communication. Preparing food for the hostel tested my patience and skill in teamwork. These activities helped me become a better problem solver and fit in within new situations.
LO 2 – Show that difficulties were overcome, acquiring new skills in the process
Early rising, acclimatization to a new place, and community service were difficult. Traveling around a new place and preparing food in a new setting made me self-reliant. Through these experiences, I acquired the ability to be self-reliant and handle difficulties with confidence.
LO 3 – Illustrate how to plan and organize a CAS experienceDonating time and planning.
I sorted, collected, and donated books to underprivileged children. Meal preparation involved planning ingredients, budgeting, and teamwork. These activities allowed me to learn planning and teamwork skills.
LO 4 – Demonstrate commitment and perseverance in CAS activitiesIt took commitment to work for the community. Even during difficult times, I participated in all activities. From morning wake-up to cooking, I was committed. I came to value hard work and perseverance in bringing change.
LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and understand the benefits of working in teamsTeam work was essential during the trip. Deciding on meals, coordinating donations, and solving issues all required team work. Team work with locals and fellow students assisted me in enhancing my communication and team work skills. What it revealed to me was the strength of working in teams.
LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significanceThrough service and donations, I discovered acute problems that affect the world as a whole such as poverty and education inequality. Giving books to children taught me the significance of education to children. Cooking for the hostel taught me about food security issues. Through this, I learned about such issues and how I could impact them.
