CAS PROJECT : fundraising tournament

On Sunday morning, between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm at Yash Academy, I coordinated and refereed a fundraising pickleball tournament within my CAS project. The objective of this event was to raise money for underprivileged kids by fusing sports with community service. Organizing the event provided me with the platform to fuse my love of sports with social responsibility, and also acquiring new personal skills.

Planning and Execution

I was in charge of coordinating the registrations, scheduling the games, arranging the courts, and refereeing the matches. Preparing for the tournament was done early with contacting participants, scheduling equipment, and seeing to it that everything was smooth. When refereeing, I needed to remain alert, unbiased, and assertive when making split-second decisions while playing matches.

LO 1: Identify own strengths and areas for growth

I had realized that I was comfortable in public interaction and refereeing but needed to enhance my time management, particularly when dealing with simultaneous matches. Understanding these areas assisted me in realizing where I can develop leadership and organizational abilities.

LO 2: Show that challenges have been taken, acquiring new skills

Combining refereeing with organization was difficult, but it assisted in the development of multitasking and conflict resolution skills whenever participants argued with decisions.

LO 3: Illustrate how to organize and plan a CAS experience

I organized the concept of hosting a pickleball tournament with fundraising, organized logistics, and had all the resources in line for the success of the tournament.

LO 4: Illustrate commitment and determination in CAS experiences

The event required persevering effort—from advertising to receipt of registrations and availability at Yash Academy at dawn to arrange. Remaining committed to the end demonstrated my resilience.

LO 5: Show skills and acknowledge advantages of working in groups

Working with volunteers, participants, and Yash Academy staff was important. Without their assistance in setup and coordination, the tournament would not have been as successful.

LO 6: Illustrate participation in issues of worldwide importance

The project was associated with the overall issue of unequal access to education and material. Through the fund-raising for poor children, I helped to address a small segment of this worldwide issue.

LO 7: Identify and take into account the ethics of decisions and actions

Being a referee, I was required to make good and impartial judgments, so that the sporting spirit was not dampened. Ethically, too, it was necessary to spend the funds openly for the same cause.

Reflection

This CAS project was not merely about sport; it was about personal growth, responsibility, and community. The fundraiser effectively united people, provided a fun sporting atmosphere, and contributed to a worthwhile cause. I departed the event more confident in my organizational skills and encouraged to pursue further integration of my passions with effective social work.
