Having a place in the Lit Fest Decor Team was quite satisfying and creative yet challenging. Our task was to prepare decorations reflecting literature, thereby generating an engaging and immersive ambience for the festival. I feel that this experience helped me develop new skills, manage my time effectively, and collaborate with my team while ensuring the space would be appealing to the other eye.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I felt confident about my creativity and attention to detail, which became two very direct strengths in designing decorations for the theme of Lit Fest. Yet, I realized that I had room for improvement in this aspect: working under time constraints. Juggling multiple responsibilities while ensuring that every single area in the decor was in place was just an extra challenge that helped train me to become more effective in managing these tasks.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Various challenges, like last-minute changes, shortage of resources, and time constraints, were present in the whole setting of the Lit Fest. At times, certain decorative elements went away from our plan, and we had to improvise with our response under these circumstances. This experience further developed my problem-solving and adaptability skills, since it has taught me how to work well even amid the unexpected.
LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Preparation toward the Lit Fest required long hours and an eye for detail. Fatigued with setbacks now and then, our team became firm on seeing the vision come to life. Whether it was the making of banners, setting up associated props, or arranging the whole space for the event, I remained adamant that our decor should contribute to the festival spirit and enjoyability for everybody.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Interdependence was the fabric from which the realities of the decor team vision were woven. There was task sharing, brainstorming, and encouragement at different levels throughout. Working as a team allowed us to work to each other’s strengths; therefore, every area of the decor was adequately carried out. This has taught me how profoundly teamwork, communication, and mutual encouragement make for achieving our common objectives.
Learner Profile Attribute Developed: Balanced
Being a member of the Lit Fest Decor Team meant balancing creativity, time, and teamwork. I was forced to multitask, designing, setting up, and making real-time adjustment to props while still having control and peace of mind when feeling pressured. The whole experience reinforced to me the need to be organized, to manage my responsibilities, and to think positively, thus developing a balance between work and life.
Conclusion
The best thing about being part of the Lit Fest Decor Team is that it gives you a chance to hone your creativity while simultaneously honing your skills of problem-solving, collaboration, and time management. At the same time, it reinforced in me the value of perseverance and teamwork, and most importantly, helped develop the right mindset-with which one should be able to handle challenges while having fun in the creative process. It gave me a sense of satisfaction to see our creations working their magic all over the festival, leaving behind lifetime memories as well as invaluable skills.
