Football has been very important part of my life, it helped me grow not only physically but as well as mentally and overall personal development. My CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) journey has allowed me to explore my passion for football in a deeper way while connecting to LO’s required for IBDP. This blog will reflect on my experience with football, illustrating how I have met the various LOs, developed new skills, and confronted challenges along the way.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth Screen reader support enabled.,
When I started playing football and considering it seriously I identified that strengths was my shooting and ball control I’ve always had good footwork and the ability to react quickly on the field. However, I realized that my stamina and long-distance running needed improvement to maintain high performance throughout the match. Knowing this, I created my personalized training routine in order to improve and work on this issue.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
One of the challenges that I faced was transitioning from playing casually to competitive environments. Initially, I struggled with the pressure of competition, and it took time to adjust to the pace and intensity of match play at a higher level. However, I took this as an opportunity to develop new skills, such as better decision-making under pressure and improved communication with teammates.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
Football required dedication and discipline and throughout my CAS experience, I have remained committed to consistently training and participating in matches, even during busy times in my academic schedule. And there was time I felt tired and had many academic submission but I managed my time. This helped me improve my time management skills.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Football is a team sport, and the most important lessons I’ve learned is trust and communicate with other players. I have learned to communicate better on the field, making quick decisions and ensuring that my teammates are in the right positions to succeed. The ability to collaborate effectively with others is something that has not only benefited me in football but will also be valuable in my future.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.
Football, as a global sport, has given me an avenue to explore various issues of global significance, I’ve participated in charity football events aimed at raising awareness for causes such as youth empowerment and education in underserved communities. This engagement has allowed me to see how sports can unite people across cultural and geographical boundaries
LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
Throughout my football journey, I’ve also been challenged to reflect on the ethics of my choices and actions. As a player, I’ve had to consider issues like sportsmanship, fairness, and integrity. I’ve learned to respect referees’ decisions, support fair play, and encourage a healthy competitive environment. through these experiences, I have come to appreciate the importance of ethical behavior, both in sports and in life.
Conclusion
My CAS experience with football has been a journey of self-discovery, skill development, and personal growth. From identifying my strengths to overcoming challenges, I’ve learned valuable lessons that extend far beyond the pitch. Perseverance, collaboration, engagement with global issues, and ethical decision-making.
