“Monsoon Musings” was a creative initiative where I combined poetry, reflective journaling, and sketching to capture the atmosphere and emotions of the monsoon season. This project helped me understand my creative identity on a deeper level. I realized that I am strong at expressing emotions through imagery and metaphors, but I also noticed areas where I need growth—specifically in maintaining consistency and improving the technical accuracy of my illustrations (LO1).
Throughout the experience, I challenged myself to explore genres I rarely attempt, such as haiku-style poetry and charcoal shading. These experiments introduced me to new forms and techniques, pushing me to develop skills in visual depth, colour blending, and thematic writing (LO2).
Before beginning the blog, I drafted a clear plan: weekly themes, types of content, formats, and deadlines. This intentional structure allowed me to initiate a well-planned creative CAS experience and stay organized (LO3). Although some weeks were particularly busy with academics, I made sure to commit time to writing and sketching, which helped me demonstrate perseverance and dedication (LO4).
Sharing my drafts with peers and receiving feedback helped me understand how collaboration can elevate a creative project. Their perspectives pushed me to refine my language, adjust moods, and improve visual balance in my sketches (LO5).
My reflections also touched upon larger themes—climate change, drought vs. rainfall imbalance, and the cultural significance of monsoons in India. This allowed me to engage with issues of global environmental concern through a creative lens (LO6). Additionally, I was mindful about not idealizing storms or portraying natural disasters insensitively. This awareness helped me think critically about ethical creative expression (LO7).
