Garba Fest (Activity)

Garba Fest was a lively and physically demanding CAS activity that allowed me to explore cultural dance in a collaborative environment. Through rehearsals, I became aware of my strengths in rhythm, coordination, and group synchronization, and I also recognized that I need to improve my stamina and refine certain footwork patterns (LO1).

The routines were fast, intricate, and required high emotional energy. Learning new formations, perfecting spins, and keeping pace pushed me to develop new physical and rhythmic skills (LO2).

I participated in organizing practice schedules, selecting music, deciding formations, and arranging costumes. These preparations demonstrated my ability to plan and initiate a CAS experience, rather than simply follow instructions (LO3). The long rehearsals, late evenings, and repeated practice sessions required significant commitment and perseverance (LO4).

Garba is deeply collaborative — success depends entirely on the group moving in harmony. We constantly communicated, adjusted timing, and supported new learners, highlighting the importance of working together (LO5).

Finally, the experience reminded me of ethical and cultural responsibility. I remained mindful of respecting traditional dance practices, ensuring that everyone felt included, and promoting safety while dancing in crowded spaces (LO7).
