I participated in the school’s pickleball team tryouts. In preparation, I spent time improving my fitness and skills to perform my best on the day. Although I was not selected for the final team, the process itself was valuable as it taught me about perseverance, resilience, and how to learn from setbacks.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
During the tryouts, I recognized that one of my strengths was consistency in effort. I stayed committed to practice and gave my best performance despite pressure. However, I also realized that my technical pickleball skills, such as quick reflexes and shot placement, need more improvement to compete at a higher level. This self-awareness gave me clarity on what I should focus on going forward.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
The tryout itself was a challenge as it placed me in a competitive environment where I had to perform under time pressure and in front of the coach. It tested my confidence, ability to stay calm, and willingness to take risks. Even though I did not make the team, the challenge taught me how to handle disappointment constructively and motivated me to keep practicing.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I showed commitment by consistently preparing for the tryouts. I made time for practice despite academic commitments and ensured I was physically and mentally ready. Although the final outcome was not selection, the perseverance I demonstrated in training and trying out proved to me that effort and dedication matter as much as results.
