IC3 regional forum volunteering

Volunteering at the IC3 Regional Forum placed me in a professional environment with educators, counselors, and university representatives. I discovered that I am particularly good at professional communication, hospitality, and adapting to different personalities, but I also saw areas where I could improve—such as anticipating participants’ needs more proactively (LO1).

Assisting with registrations, guiding guests, coordinating workshop rooms, and resolving technical issues helped me develop new logistical and interpersonal skills (LO2). Each situation required clarity, patience, and a positive attitude.

The experience involved pre-event meetings, understanding the event flow, dividing roles, and creating creative signage and materials. This allowed me to actively participate in planning and initiating the CAS experience (LO3). The long event hours and constant interactions tested my energy levels, but I stayed committed throughout, showing perseverance (LO4).

Working with a diverse volunteer team taught me how essential collaboration is in large-scale educational events. We supported each other during high-pressure moments and ensured smooth coordination between multiple groups (LO5).

The forum focused on major global themes—education access, student mental health, college readiness, and international opportunities. Listening to and assisting people who work on these issues helped me engage meaningfully with global concerns in education (LO6). Handling sensitive documents and interacting with professionals also made me reflect deeply on ethical behaviour, confidentiality, and respect in formal settings (LO7).
