LO1: Identifying My Strengths and Areas for Growth
Representing my school at the ISSO Football Tournament helped me discover both my strengths and areas for improvement. I realized that my greatest assets were teamwork and resilience, especially during high-pressure matches. However, I also noticed that my stamina was not at the level it needed to be for competitive play. Recognizing this encouraged me to focus on improving my endurance and physical conditioning through extra running and strength training sessions.
LO2: Demonstrating That Challenges Have Been Undertaken
Preparing for the tournament was not easy. It required early morning practices, long strategy meetings, and countless drills. Facing stronger opponents pushed me to develop new strategies and refine my techniques. Every setback became a learning opportunity, helping me strengthen both my body and mindset. Overcoming fatigue and maintaining motivation taught me persistence and mental discipline.
LO3: Initiating and Planning Activities
As one of the more experienced players, I took initiative in leading warm-ups and team discussions. I often helped plan tactical plays and organized practice routines before matches. This responsibility helped me grow as a leader and develop better communication and organization skills. Collaborating with coaches and teammates taught me how to balance leadership with teamwork.
LO4: Showing Commitment and Perseverance
The preparation and competition period demanded strong commitment and perseverance. There were times when training felt overwhelming or when results didn’t go as planned. Yet, staying dedicated through the tough days was what made the experience truly meaningful. By consistently showing up and giving my best, I learned that improvement only comes through sustained effort.
LO5: Working Collaboratively with Others
Football is a team sport, and success depends on how well players trust and support one another. Competing at the ISSO level taught me the importance of communication, respect, and unity. Whether celebrating a win or learning from a loss, I realized that collaboration and collective effort make every challenge more achievable.
LO6: Engagement with Global Issues
Participating in this tournament also made me reflect on global issues related to youth empowerment and sports equity. I became more aware of how access to quality sports training can vary, and how promoting inclusivity aligns with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). This experience deepened my appreciation for sports as a platform for equality and personal growth.
LO7: Recognizing and Considering the Ethics of Choices and Actions
Finally, I learned the importance of fair play, respect, and ethics in competition. Whether it was accepting referees’ decisions or maintaining sportsmanship toward opponents, I understood that how we play matters more than just winning. Upholding integrity on and off the field made me a more disciplined and responsible athlete.
