Cross Country Run – Activity

Cross country running is a sport that challenges individuals to race across natural terrains such as grass, hills, and uneven trails. Participating in this event provided me with an excellent opportunity to test both my physical endurance and mental resilience. It pushed me beyond my comfort zone and helped me discover more about my strengths and areas that I could improve upon. This activity also allowed me to demonstrate several CAS learning outcomes.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Through this experience, I was able to recognize my own strengths and identify areas where I need improvement. I discovered that I possess a decent level of stamina and determination, which helped me maintain a steady pace throughout the race. However, I also realized that I lacked the proper training techniques needed for long-distance running. My agility and running form were two areas that required attention. Recognizing these points helped me understand the importance of consistent training and technique refinement to improve my performance in future races.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Completing the cross-country run was a significant challenge for me, as I had never participated in a long-distance race before. Running continuously under the sun was physically exhausting and mentally demanding, yet I managed to push through and complete the race successfully. This experience helped me develop new skills such as endurance management, self-discipline, and time planning. I learned how to maintain a proper diet and hydration routine before and after the race to support my performance. There were moments during the race, especially near the end, when fatigue and muscle pain made me want to slow down or stop. Despite this, I remained determined to finish strong. My perseverance and commitment kept me going until I crossed the finish line. This experience taught me that persistence and a positive mindset can help overcome even the toughest challenges.
