Anand Utsav (Service)

As part of the Anand Utsav celebration, I had the privilege of organizing and participating in an event dedicated to appreciating our school’s support staff. This day was all about recognizing the hard work and contributions of the non-teaching personnel who often work behind the scenes to keep our school running smoothly.
Along with my peers, I helped plan and run a variety of fun games such as dodgeball, musical chairs, and more, to encourage the support staff to engage and enjoy themselves. We also gave out gift cards as tokens of appreciation. Furthermore, I was involved in decorating the venue and serving food to the staff, ensuring they felt welcomed, valued, and celebrated.
LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:
This event required extensive teamwork. From planning the schedule to managing the games and coordinating decoration and food service, collaboration was key. I learned to divide tasks effectively and communicate clearly with my peers. Working together helped the event run smoothly and made the experience more enjoyable for everyone.
LO6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance:
This experience deepened my understanding of social equity and dignity of labor. Around the world, support staff and laborers often go unnoticed or underappreciated. Taking a day to honor and celebrate them made me reflect on how small acts of gratitude can help address this global issue and promote inclusivity within our communities.
Lo 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
During Anand Utsav, I helped celebrate the support staff of my school by organizing games, music, and dance for them. This experience made me reflect on how often their contributions go unnoticed, even though they play a vital role in keeping the school running smoothly. Choosing to dedicate time and effort to appreciate them was not just about fun, but also about acknowledging their dignity and showing gratitude. I realized that small actions, like creating space for joy and recognition, can have a meaningful ethical impact. It reminded me to be more mindful of respecting and valuing every individual in the community, regardless of their role.
Participating in Anand Utsav was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me of the importance of community, respect, and gratitude. This service experience not only strengthened my organizational and teamwork skills but also made me more socially conscious and appreciative of the unsung heroes in our everyday lives.
