The farewell of our seniors is more than just a celebration, but it is an opportunity to honor their journey and leave them with meaningful memories. As part of the organizing team, I took the responsibility of planning and coordinating the last day, which required careful thought, creativity, and collaboration. Through this experience, I was able to apply learner profiles like communicator and thinker, where I expressed ideas clearly to the team, while also deciding the best ways to design an event that reflected our seniors’ contributions. It was important to create a day that reflected our gratitude, making them feel valued, appreciated, and celebrated. We aimed to give them a warm send-off, as this day brought an end to their journey.
LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
In planning the event, I initiated discussions with my peers on how the day should unfold, suggesting activities and themes that would make it both enjoyable and memorable. I worked on creating a clear outline of tasks, from decorations to scheduling all the activities, ensuring everything aligned with our timeline. We considered different options, anticipating challenges, and making decisions that balanced creativity with practicality. We included activities such as spray painting on school walls, karaoke, shirt-signing and many more.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
To execute the farewell required consistent effort over several weeks. From brainstorming to final decorations, there were moments when it felt overwhelming due to academic workload and varying opinions. However, I showed perseverance by committing to every meeting and taking responsibility for completing my assigned tasks on time. I remained a reliable team member and ensured we were able to create a memorable last day.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The farewell could not have been successful without teamwork. As I worked with others, I learned to listen actively, compromise when necessary, and contribute ideas respectfully. By valuing different perspectives, we were able to design an inclusive program that highlighted both fun and gratitude. We had a difference in opinion for various decorations aspects, like the countdown banner, but we moved past them by compromising. This collaboration not only ensured a successful last day but also taught me the importance of collective effort.
