Being in the photobooth booth was a worthwhile learning experience that stretched me out of my comfort zone. It assisted me in learning how to attempt new things, tackle unexpected challenges, and develop personally and professionally. Throughout the process, planning to execution, every step of the journey was a learning experience. This reflection outlines how I exemplified various learning outcomes throughout this process.
LO 2: Taking on challenges and developing new skills
Running the photobooth booth was exciting and demanding. The biggest challenge was getting customers, especially in the early days when people were not willing. I had to think creatively, experimenting with different tactics such as reducing the price, aggressively marketing the booth, and approaching possible customers directly. Through this, I enhanced my problem-solving skills and was able to adjust easily. I also enhanced my communication skills with different people, a skill that is applicable in any business.
LO 3: Planning and initiating the experience
Photobooth setup was not a case of just showing up on the day—it took a huge amount of planning. I had to plan everything from budgeting and acquiring props to creating an attractive layout and coming up with a marketing strategy. I had to think about how to make customers feel at ease and how to get them to have a good time. Along the way, I could see how important planning and organization were. I also discovered that even little things—like where to place the props or how we interacted with customers—made a huge difference to overall success of the stall.
LO 4: Commitment and perseverance
The activity was not always according to plan, and sometimes it was difficult. There were times when the booth was not getting as many guests as were anticipated, which was disappointing. Rather than losing heart, however, I was dedicated and sought to find ways to make things better. I was compelled to adjust my approach by engaging more with guests, encouraging groups to pose for goofy photos, and making the process more interactive. Ultimately, the dedication paid off, and more people began to take notice. This experience instilled the importance of being dedicated and constantly changing to overcome adversity rather than losing heart.
LO 5: Collaboration and teamwork
Running the photobooth was a team effort—it required teamwork. My team and I worked together to delegate tasks in the most efficient way, whether it was handling the cash, customer interaction, or prop preparation. Instant communication was required to ensure everything was running according to plan. It was an invaluable lesson in the importance of teamwork in business. Everyone on the team had something different to offer, and by working together, we were able to create a fun and successful experience for our clients.
