Visit Shilpa school

Visiting Shilpa School for students who are visually impaired and physically disabled was a touching and significant experience where we made the young kids do some art like painting and coloring. The aim was to allow them to share their thoughts and feelings through drawing and coloring while keeping the session enjoyable and interesting. I supported them with spoken descriptions, direct help, and positive words, making sure that every student was able to join in despite their difficulties. Observing their imagination and excitement made me understand how even minor actions can create happiness and boost confidence in others.

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I found out that I could relate to and support students with patience, but I also understood that it was tough to explain visual tasks to students who couldn’t see. This situation allowed me to enhance my skills in communicating and adjusting to different needs.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Working with students who have visual and physical challenges was a fresh experience for me. I discovered ways to provide straightforward directions, apply hands-on teaching techniques, and promote inclusion while leading an art project.

LO 4 – Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences

Several students found it difficult to grip crayons or adhere to outlines, yet I stayed calm and supportive, making sure each person had the opportunity to finish their art with satisfaction.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

I collaborated with educators and other helpers to offer suitable direction and assistance to the learners. Working together was crucial for the success of the workshop.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

This experience enhanced my knowledge of inclusive education and highlighted the necessity for improved access to creative tasks. It increased my awareness of how crucial it is to provide equal chances for every student, no matter their skills.

Going to Shilpa School was a revealing and satisfying experience that helped me use art to bring people together, create happiness, and express oneself. This experience strengthened my conviction in the value of kindness, making resources available, and ensuring everyone has the same chances for education, making it one of the most significant volunteer activities I have engaged in.
