Personal Sports : Football

Opting personal sports in school (PS) was a unique and fulfilling CAS experience that challenged me both physically and mentally. Activity needed me to get out of my comfort field, take new responsibilities. This was an experience that tested my perseverance, allowed me to recognise my strength, and helped me develop an open -minded and princely outlook for teamwork.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I learned more about my areas of strength and need for development as a result of this experience. My capacity to remain dedicated and motivated whenever there was a need for work was one of my strong points. However, I came to the realization that I needed to improve my stamina and endurance because some tasks required constant, long-term physical effort. I was inspired by this activity to increase my flexibility and look for methods to enhance my physical capabilities by making a valuable contribution to the hand.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Football needed me to get out of my comfort field and develop new technical and strategic skills. One of the biggest challenges was improving my dragging under pressure and improving decision making in quick book situations. First, I struggled with maintaining the ball control when I faced with aggressive defenders. However, through frequent training, I developed better composition and agility, which helped me handle high pressure situations more effectively. Additionally, playing in a team setting improved my communication and leadership skills. I learned how to effectively coordinate with teammates, call for pass, and maintain a positive team spirit, which is skills that expand in everyday life beyond football.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Football is an activity that requires mental and physical stamina. I believe the temptation to give up was present at times when the training sessions were coming to an end, particularly when he was up against tough opponents or was having trouble with certain areas of his game. But I made a commitment to myself by challenging myself in fitness exercises, attending frequent training sessions, and consistently improving my areas of weakness.

Observing my development over time, whether it was in faster decision-making, improved stamina, or better teamwork- made all the hard work worth it. This experience reaffirmed how crucial consistency and commitment are to attaining long-term gains.

Learner Profile Attributes Developed

  • Principled: I maintained fairness, honesty, and sportsmanship throughout my football career. I made sure to uphold the moral principles of the game, whether that meant supporting teammates, playing honestly, or honoring the referees’ rulings. Additionally, I discovered how crucial discipline is for both training and competition.
  • Open-Minded: Playing football introduced me to a variety of tactics, viewpoints, and playing styles. I learned to modify my gameplay and respect different approaches to the sport by playing with teammates of different skill levels. I was able to embrace challenges with a growth mindset, take constructive criticism, and learn from my mistakes because I was open-minded.

Conclusion

My time playing football as my Personal Sport (PS) was immensely beneficial. It taught me discipline, perseverance, and collaboration while fostering my physical, mental, and emotional growth. More significantly, it helped me develop a mindset that emphasizes constant progress in all facets of life, not just football. The notion that tenacity and an open mind are essential for personal development on and off the field has been strengthened by this experience.
