Location: Choithram International School, Indore
CAS Strand(s): Activity

Experience Overview:

Participating in the ISSO Tournament as part of my school’s U-17 football team was a valuable experience that tested my skills, teamwork, and perseverance. Competing against strong teams from various schools all over India, we fought hard and reached the quarter-finals, demonstrating resilience and commitment throughout the tournament.

Learning Outcomes Achieved:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Playing in a highly competitive environment helped me recognize my strengths in defense and strategic gameplay while also highlighting areas needing improvement, such as ball control and endurance under pressure. This experience was a learning curve that encouraged me to refine my skills further.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Each match posed unique challenges, from adapting to different playing styles to making split-second tactical decisions. Overcoming these challenges helped me enhance my ability to stay composed under pressure and improve my decision-making on the field.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Preparing for the tournament required extensive training, early morning drills, and continuous effort. Despite facing setbacks, including our quarter-final exit, I remained dedicated to the sport, striving to improve for future competitions.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Football is a team sport, and this tournament reinforced the importance of communication, coordination, and trust among teammates. Our success in reaching the quarter-finals was largely due to our ability to work together and support each other throughout the matches.

Reflection:

The ISSO Tournament was not simply an athletic contest it was a chance to develop both as an individual and a team member. It focused on the importance of discipline, resilience, and teamwork. Despite the fact that we did not reach the semi-finals, the opportunity has inspired me to put in more effort, understand my shortcomings, and upgrade my abilities for other competitions. It has further fuelled my enthusiasm for football and make me to strive even more to improve myself.

Future Goals:

  • Improve endurance and ball control through focused training.
  • Participate in more tournaments to gain further experience.
  • Continue working on teamwork and communication strategies with my teammates.
