Interschool TT Competition- Activity

Participating in an interschool table tennis competition was an exciting and transformative experience. It tested my abilities, resilience, and teamwork, pushing me to grow both as an athlete and an individual. The competition was not just about winning matches but also about refining my skills, overcoming challenges, and collaborating effectively with my teammates.

LO1: Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
Through this competition, I gained valuable insights into my strengths and areas for improvement. My agility and reflexes proved to be my strong points, allowing me to react quickly to fast-paced rallies. However, I also realized that my consistency in returning spin shots needed improvement. Recognizing this, I started focusing on refining my technique, dedicating extra time to practice drills that targeted my weaknesses. This experience reinforced the importance of self-assessment in personal growth.

LO2: Undertaking Challenges and Developing New Skills
Competing at an interschool level brought many challenges, from facing highly skilled opponents to managing the pressure of competitive play. One of the biggest hurdles was adapting my playing style to counter different strategies used by my opponents. I learned to stay composed under pressure and developed better strategic thinking on the court. Additionally, I enhanced my footwork and improved my ability to anticipate shots, which significantly benefited my overall gameplay. Overcoming these challenges not only made me a better player but also built my confidence in handling difficult situations.

LO4: Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experience
Preparation for the tournament required dedication and consistent effort. I committed to rigorous training sessions, balancing them with my academic responsibilities. There were moments of frustration when I struggled to perfect a technique or lost crucial matches in practice, but persistence helped me improve steadily. The competition itself demanded mental resilience, especially in close matches where focus and determination played a crucial role. This experience reinforced my belief that sustained effort and perseverance lead to success.

LO5: Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively
While table tennis is often seen as an individual sport, the competition highlighted the importance of teamwork. As part of a school team, we supported each other by strategizing together, analyzing our opponents’ gameplay, and offering encouragement before and after matches. Practicing with my teammates also helped me refine my technique and learn new strategies. This collaborative experience strengthened my ability to work effectively with others and underscored the value of mutual support in achieving shared goals.
