Global odyssey is an event led by the students of economics and business management. I was assigned to a fashion stall with my classmates Kreesha Nanda and Saanvee Jain where I sold various products like , claw clips , washbags , makeup sponges , jewelry organizer , etc. Purchasing raw ingredients, creating items, determining the selling price, budgeting, and the day of selling were all part of the process. We were successful in establishing profit margins for every product so that we could make money while maintaining a fairly affordable / accessible price.
LO 3 : Initiate and plan a CAS experience:
We started by coming up with product concepts that our target market would find appealing. Following the selection of our products, we organised and planned the procurement of raw materials, created and arranged the finished goods, and devised a plan for stall setup and management. This process was extremely important since we had to bargain for pricing, set an appropriate and sufficient profit margin and display our understanding and knowledge we gained from the subject. Additionally we also had to have prior meetings with both our group members and the teacher incharge in order to ensure that we were set and ready for the event. To guarantee efficient operation on the day of the event, we also assigned roles to each member of our group. Organising and initiating tasks was crucial since it allowed us to be proactive with duties and provided an efficient flow to the experience.
LO 5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:
Coordination and excellent communication were essential when working in a group. We assigned tasks according to each person’s strengths; some were in charge of finance, some of procurement, and some of stall setup and customer service. Through excellent collaboration, we made sure that no detail was missed and that every step of the process was completed quickly.
LO 7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions:
We took care to balance turning a profit with maintaining product accessibility when determining product prices. We priced our products fairly while keeping reasonable margins in mind, taking into account the audience’s varied economic backgrounds. This demonstrated our dedication to moral business conduct and societal responsibilities.
Lastly, this experience helped me apply my academic knowledge in a real-world situation and provided me with insightful understanding about ethical decision-making, cooperation, and entrepreneurship.
