Participating in FSMUN 11.0 as part of the IPL Auction House Committee was an exciting and intellectually stimulating CAS creativity experience. My group represented KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders), where we worked together to build a strong and balanced team through strategic bidding. This experience required critical thinking, teamwork, and ethical decision-making, making it both a challenge and a learning opportunity.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth Screen reader support enabled
During the auction, I spotted my strengths in player stats analysis, strategic thinking, and quick decision-making. I also found space for improvement in budget allocation and anticipating the strategies of competitors. This experience pushed me to sharpen my skills in financial planning and to be flexible in high-pressure situations.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Navigating the fast-paced environment of an auction was a significant challenge. Balancing budget limitations, competition from other teams, and making the right player selections required quick thinking and adaptability. Through this, I developed better financial planning skills, enhanced my ability to make decisions under pressure, and learned to adjust strategies dynamically.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Working in a group of three, we had to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and trust each other’s judgment. Each member brought different strengths—one focused on finances, another on player performance, and I contributed by analyzing bidding trends and strategizing the best picks. This experience reinforced the value of teamwork and how diverse perspectives lead to better decision-making.
LO7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
Carrying integrity and fairness into every part of decision-making sounded very romantic. Even if we faced bitter competition, we made sure our strategies were ethical, transparent, and sportsmanlike. The idea of sports auctions taught me to become more aware of the ethical implications of financial and strategic decisions we take throughout a tournament’s course.
FSMUN 11.0 was beyond a Model United Nations experience, recounting a test of strategy, collaboration, and ethical leadership. Acting on KKR in the IPL Auction House conferred insightful lessons on sports management, financial strategy, and teamwork. This experience sharpened my analytical skills while instilling a powerful sense of moral obligation and flexibility, quite a rewarding CAS creativity experience.
