For my CAS experience, I participated in Creative Mela, an event where I worked as part of a committee to organize hands-on activities for PYP-grade students. My role involved collaborating with a partner to design and lead an engaging activity that was both fun and educational. We carefully planned the required materials and structured a method to teach the students how to conduct the activity before allowing them to try it themselves. This experience provided me with the opportunity to enhance my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while contributing to an interactive learning environment.
LO2 – Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills
Participating in Creative Mela required me to step out of my comfort zone and take on the challenge of organizing and leading an activity for younger students. One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the activity was engaging yet simple enough for the students to understand. I had to develop patience and effective communication skills to explain the steps clearly. Additionally, I learned how to adapt to different learning styles and provide guidance in a way that was accessible to all participants. This experience helped me develop problem-solving skills, as I had to quickly adjust the activity based on student responses and their level of engagement. By the end of the event, I had gained valuable skills in leadership, instruction, and adaptability. Furthermore, this experience aligned with the sustainability goal of Partnerships to Achieve the Goal, as I collaborated with students, teachers, and my partner to create a meaningful learning opportunity. Additionally, I developed the Risk-Taker attribute by taking on the challenge of leading an activity and adapting to unexpected situations.
LO3 – Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience

Planning for Creative Mela involved careful coordination and preparation to ensure that the activity ran smoothly. My partner and I initiated the process by brainstorming potential activities that would be both educational and enjoyable. We then structured our plan by listing the required materials, designing a step-by-step guide, and testing the activity beforehand to ensure feasibility. Additionally, we planned how we would interact with the students, demonstrating the activity before allowing them to try it themselves. Our preparation played a crucial role in ensuring that we could effectively manage the activity on the event day. This experience strengthened my ability to plan and execute an event successfully, reinforcing the importance of organization and proactive thinking. Through this, I developed the Thinker attribute, as I designed an activity that was engaging while also being easy to understand for PYP students. Moreover, this experience contributed to the sustainability goal of Partnerships to Achieve the Goal, as I worked alongside my partner and event coordinators to make the activity successful.
LO5 – Demonstrate Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively

Collaboration was essential in making our activity successful during Creative Mela. My partner and I worked together in planning, preparing, and executing the activity, ensuring that each aspect was well-managed. Effective communication between us allowed for a smooth flow of responsibilities, with each of us contributing our strengths to enhance the experience for the students. We supported each other throughout the event, stepping in when one of us needed assistance and ensuring that the students remained engaged. This experience highlighted the importance of teamwork, as working together helped us manage the activity efficiently and created a positive learning environment for the students. Through this, I developed the Communicator attribute by effectively explaining the activity to younger students and guiding them through the process. Additionally, I demonstrated the Caring attribute by ensuring that the activity was enjoyable and accessible to all participants. This collaboration directly aligned with the sustainability goal of Partnerships to Achieve the Goal, as it emphasized teamwork and shared responsibility in creating an engaging learning experience.
