FSMUN 11.0 : Creativity!

Being the OC Head of Decor, in charge of Social Media, and a band member at FSMUN 11.0 was a challenging yet incredibly rewarding experience. Balancing multiple responsibilities—overseeing decor, managing the event’s online presence, and preparing for a live performance—taught me the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and time management. Each role pushed me to develop new skills while allowing me to express both my creative and strategic abilities.

LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth

Managing decor and social media helped me recognize my strengths in visual design, organization, and digital communication. I was able to translate ideas into decor elements while ensuring the online engagement remained active and impactful. At the same time, performing as a band member allowed me to showcase my musical abilities and stage confidence, reinforcing my passion for music.

However, I also identified areas for improvement, particularly in time management and multitasking. Balancing rehearsals, content creation, core meetings and decor prep was overwhelming at times, and I realized the need to prioritize tasks and trust my team with certain responsibilities. This experience helped me refine my ability to delegate and stay organized under pressure, along with being able to help me develop as an individual.

LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills in the Process

Coordinating decor across multiple venues, ensuring social media updates were on schedule, and preparing for a live band performance all presented unique challenges. Handling last-minute decor adjustments, troubleshooting technical difficulties, and maintaining an engaging social media presence required quick thinking and problem-solving skills.

Additionally, performing live on stage pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Rehearsing with my bandmates, synchronizing our setlist, and ensuring a smooth performance in front of a large audience required patience, teamwork, and confidence. This experience not only strengthened my musical abilities but also taught me how to manage performance anxiety and deliver under pressure.

LO3: Demonstrate How to Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience

Planning the decor for FSMUN 11.0 involved theme conceptualization, material sourcing, and timeline coordination to ensure a visually appealing event. Simultaneously, managing social media required an organized content plan, scheduled posts, and a strategy for live coverage. Thankfully I had my team with me, who helped me at every step of the process. From spending 2 weeks just to make circle hangings to making everything come to life in just a day!

In addition to that, preparing for the band performance required structured rehearsals, setlist selection, and sound coordination. Collaborating with my bandmates, balancing individual and group practice, and ensuring a seamless live experience reinforced the importance of structured planning in creative projects.

FSMUN 11.0 was a whirlwind of creativity, leadership, and teamwork. Each role I took on contributed to my growth, helping me build confidence in both event management and performance arts. This experience strengthened my ability to adapt, lead, and collaborate, making it one of the most memorable events I’ve been a part of. I hope I can take part next year too!
