HDP PS- Table Tennis

During my entire school year i took up HDP PS- Table tennis. I developed crucial life skills like team coordination and quick decision making. I took these 4 times every cycle and mantained consistent efforts throughout.

Learning Outcome 1-LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Through my table tennis classes, I discovered that my strength lies in my quick reflexes and ability to adapt during fast-paced rallies. However, I realized that I need to improve my consistency and control, especially when returning spin shots. Initially, I struggled with maintaining precision under pressure, but over time, I focused on refining my technique and improving my shot placement. This experience helped me recognize that patience and repetition are key to mastering any skill.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

At first, I struggled with returning fast shots and adjusting to different playing styles. However, through consistent practice and feedback from my coach, I gradually improved my technique and reaction time. This experience taught me the value of persistence and the importance of adapting to new challenges in order to grow. At the end when i look back at my older self, i realized that i have improved quite well in terms of reaction time and have developed my hand to eye coordination further.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Table tennis required regular practice and discipline to improve, and there were times when progress felt slow. Despite facing setbacks—like struggling with certain techniques or losing difficult matches—I remained committed to my training. Attending sessions consistently and focusing on small improvements helped me stay motivated. This experience reinforced that true progress comes from dedication and long-term effort, even when immediate results aren’t visible.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Although table tennis is often played individually, collaboration was key to my improvement. I trained with different partners, which helped me adapt to various playing styles and strategies. Practicing drills with others, receiving constructive feedback, and learning from my coach made the experience more engaging and effective. I realized that working with others not only improves technical skills but also builds communication, patience, and teamwork in a competitive environment.

LO7: Recognize and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

During my table tennis classes, I realized that sportsmanship and ethical decision-making play a crucial role in the game. At times, I encountered moments where I had to make ethical choices—such as calling out my own mistakes even when my opponent or coach didn’t notice. Initially, I was tempted to let minor misjudgments slide, but I understood that playing with integrity is more important than simply winning.here were times when I lost points due to misjudging the ball’s spin or making unforced errors. Instead of blaming external factors like the opponent’s technique or the quality of the paddle, I learned to take responsibility for my mistakes and focus on self-improvement.
