The Garba Fest ,A Celebration of Culture, Collaboration, and Commitment
Vibrant beats of the dhol, twirling chaniya cholis of colorful add-ons on the amazing flow of energy between the students and teachers, dancing in unison-this was our school Garba Fest. Organized as an after-school event, this festival was not only a fiesta of dance, but also an occasion to express culture, teamwork, and commitment, thereby fulfilling the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) requirements of the IBDP.
Initiation and Planning of the CAS Experience (LO3)
Being part of the decoration team for the Garba Fest meant actively contributing to create the visual impact of the occasion. From conceptualizing the theme and color scheme to designing intricate rangoli and hanging colorful drapes, which concerted effort required detailed planning. It was important to split duties among team members, ensure smooth communication with the organizing committee, and imbue the design with the festivity. This experience helped me develop my organizational skills and appreciate the crucial role of advance planning in event management.
Demonstration of Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively (LO5)
The Garba Fest was ultimately a successful act of collaboration. Working alongside fellow students and teachers to decorate, occupy the venue, and make running changes reinforced the value of teamwork. Each member contributed unique strengths-some in creative design, others in logistics and management. Through effective delegation and open communication, we created a mesmerizing and pleasing visual environment. This experience reinforced the perception that working together is sure to grant a common sense of accomplishment, togetherness in teams and stronger bonds for the school community.
The completion of decoration work for Garba Fest certainly involved challenges such as the tiring, last-minute adjustments, and unforeseen hurdles; even still, our commitment remained focused on our goal. Sticking through after school for so many days, as we worked hard on designing and putting everything together before the event, was truest determination in action. However, this spectacular event was worth every sleepless night when I saw everyone come in through the beautifully decorated venue with smiles. This brought my ability to commit to a task despite obstacles strengthened beyond CAS into personal growth and academic advantage.
To Conclude The Garba Fest was not merely a night of dance but also taught the importance of cultural respect, teamwork, and commitment. Through this CAS experience, I not only contributed creatively but was able to develop certain skills that will help me in the future. The beats of Garba and the lessons of collaboration, planning, and perseverance echoed loud that night to make the event successful.
