Bal Mela Volunteer

On the 8th of February, Fountainhead School organized the annual Bal Mela. Bal Mela is the biggest events of the year where our school invites children from various SMC schools to enjoy different activities in sports, arts, music & dance. Every year hundreds of children attend this event. My role in the event was to photograph the event. Seeing big smiles on all of the kid’s faces really made me appreciate everything that I had.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I was able to see areas for development in the photographs I took at Bal Mela, after some clicks I was reviewing the photos to see how they were turning out, whether the lighting, or the different angles were perfect or not, I was not satisfied with some of the pictures, so I further analysed them and found out my mistakes, which I then worked upon before clicking the next photos. It is really important to find your areas of strength so that you can countinue to do the same, but finding out the your weaknesses is even more important so that you can work on them and try to improve as much as you can.

LO6: Engagement with issues of global significance

We were able to address the issue of poor quality of education and inequalities towads these children through this event. This is also one of the Global issues that need to be addressed. And as I was already aware about this issue because we had learned about SDGs in our school, this helped add more value to the event.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Because of Bal Mela I was able to understand how our small correct actions could bring significant changes and encourage others to do the same as a part of serving the community.

This experience allowed me to learn more about the kids that don’t have as many opportunities as we do, looking at those kids and seeing how small things made them really happy, it made me realise how grateful I am to my parents for giving me everything that I’ve ever wanted.
