For my CAS Activity, I participated in a cross country run, which was a three-day marathon designed to push runners beyond their physical limits. This experience provided me with the opportunity to challenge myself physically and mentally, enhancing my stamina and endurance. My goal was to test my ability to persist through long-distance running while overcoming challenges and improving my overall well-being. Through this experience, I not only engaged in a physically demanding activity but also developed valuable personal attributes that contributed to my holistic growth.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Participating in the cross-country marathon allowed me to recognize my physical strengths and the areas where I needed improvement. Before starting this experience, I had a basic level of endurance, but I was unsure about my ability to sustain long-distance running over multiple days. Through this marathon, I identified my strengths, such as my ability to push through fatigue, maintain a steady pace, and stay mentally determined throughout the run. At the same time, I recognized the need to work on my stamina and overall endurance, as I struggled with exhaustion towards the later stages of the run. To address this, I focused on structured training, hydration, and better breathing techniques. This experience helped me develop a growth mindset, as I continuously sought ways to enhance my running performance, allowing me to stretch my physical limits beyond what I initially thought was possible.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
The cross-country marathon was a significant challenge that required both mental and physical resilience. Running long distances for three consecutive days was an unfamiliar and demanding task, and I had to adapt quickly to keep up with the endurance requirements. This experience allowed me to develop new skills, such as effective pacing, controlled breathing techniques, and strategic energy management to ensure I could complete each day’s run without exhausting myself too soon. Additionally, I learned the importance of recovery strategies, such as stretching, hydration, and proper nutrition, to prepare myself for the next day’s run. By undertaking this challenge, I not only gained valuable running skills but also built mental toughness, as I constantly had to overcome fatigue, discomfort, and self-doubt. This experience ultimately helped me become more resilient and confident in my ability to take on physical challenges.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Commitment and perseverance were key to successfully completing the three-day cross-country marathon. Despite feeling physically drained after each run, I remained determined to push myself again the next day, proving my dedication to the experience. There were moments when I felt like stopping due to fatigue, but I maintained a strong mindset and stayed committed to completing the full distance each day. I also followed a strict training and recovery routine to ensure I was ready for the next run. This experience required consistent effort, and I demonstrated perseverance by not giving up, even when the challenge became mentally and physically demanding. By pushing past my limits and staying committed throughout the entire marathon, I proved to myself that with discipline and persistence, I could achieve more than I initially believed.
