Rock Climbing – Activity

As part of my CAS activity, I participated in rock climbing, which was physically and mentally demanding. This experience challenged my endurance, strength and abilities to solve the problem, while helping me develop firmness and teamwork skills.

LO1 – Identify your own strength and develop areas for development.

Through this experience, I recognized my physical powers, such as balance and coordination, which helped me navigate the routes efficiently. However, I also identified areas for development, such as improving grip strength and overcoming my early fear of heights. Accepting these aspects, I was allowed to focus on improving my weaknesses in future climbing sessions

LO2 – Demonstrate that there are challenges developing new skills in this process

Rock climbing was a completely new activity for me, which required both physical and mental flexibility. I faced the challenge of learning proper climbing techniques, understanding the route grading and overcoming fatigue. Through continuous practice, I developed new skills, such as foot placement strategy and skilled handhold, which improved my overall climbing capacity.

LO4 – Show commitment to CAS experiences and for firmness

Climbing requires continuous effort and perseverance, as progress is often slow and physically demand. I faced many failures, such as failed to meet some routes, but I was committed to improve. By continuously practicing and advancing my limits, I was able to complete the more challenging climb over time, demonstrating firmness and dedication.

LO5 – Perform skills and identify the benefits of working collaboratively

Rock climbing is not just a personal effort – it also requires teamwork and trust. I worked with a partner, ensuring each other’s safety. Effective communication and coordination were necessary in this process, as I had to rely on my partner for support and guidance. This experience strengthened the importance of teamwork and trust in physically demanding activities.

LO7 – Identify and consider the morality of options and functions

Security and responsibility play an important role in rock climbing. I had to make sure that I was following proper safety procedures, such as checking my harness and belle setup before each climb. Additionally, I was thinking of the moral responsibility of looking for my climbing partner, making sure that I was attentive. This experience emphasized the importance of making moral options, especially in situations where security is involved.
