Lit Fest – Creativity

The Lit Fest was organized by the language and literature team. I had a stall for a game called literature ping-pong, where I made kids from my school unscramble words. This event was a great opportunity for me to develop my leadership skills since I had to plan and execute the game myself.

Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Setting up a literature game stall required me to take initiative and plan thoroughly. I began by brainstorming game ideas that would align with the fest’s literary theme while being engaging and educational. I needed to prepare materials, design the game layout, and ensure all resources were ready in advance. Coordinating with teachers, arranging logistics, and setting up the stall on time also required effective time management and organizational skills. I developed my ability to initiate and manage events, enhancing my leadership and problem-solving capabilities.

Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
The lit fest was for two consecutive days and, managing the stall required consistent effort and enthusiasm. There were challenges, such as maintaining participant engagement, troubleshooting game rules on the spot, and managing time effectively between rounds. Despite these hurdles, I remained dedicated to making the experience enjoyable for everyone who visited the stall. I showed perseverance by staying motivated, adapting to changes, and keeping my energy high throughout the event. This experience reinforced the value of commitment, as my sustained effort contributed to the stall’s success and positive feedback from both, participants and organizers.

Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Operating a literature game stall was not a solo effort. I worked closely with my peers, sharing responsibilities such as managing participants, explaining game rules, and setting up the stall. Collaboration was key to ensuring smooth operations, and we had to communicate effectively, support each other, and handle different tasks based on our strengths. I learned how teamwork can lead to more efficient problem-solving and a better overall experience for the participants. This experience taught me the importance of collaboration, trust, and valuing each team member’s contribution.

Organizing and managing a literature game stall at the school’s literature fest was a rewarding experience that allowed me to demonstrate my leadership skills, demonstrate perseverance in a dynamic environment, and enhance my collaborative skills. This experience not only strengthened my organizational and teamwork abilities but also underscored the impact of dedication and effective communication in achieving shared goals.
