VA Exhibition – Creativity

As a part of my CAS experience I had the chance to help the grade 12 students set up their VA exhibition. It was an exciting opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the exhibition from preparing the artwork to setting up the display space. Throughout this experience I learned alot about the process of creating an exhibition and how important teamwork and planning are. I also realised how much I need to grow and for my own exhibition next year.

LO 1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Working with the Grade 12 students during their exhibition setup gave me a valuable opportunity to reflect on my own strengths and areas for growth. I saw where I could contribute effectively such as helping with the organization of the artwork and assisting in setting up the display. However I also noticed there are areas where I could improve especially when it comes to managing my time better and being more proactive during the planning. Watching the Grade 12 students handle everything so smoothly made me realize how important these skills really are. It helped me figure out what I need to work on and as I get ready for my own exhibition next year I now have a better sense of how to be more organized and involved.

LO 3 : Demonstrating how to initiate and plan

Through this experience, I learned a lot about how to start and plan a CAS project. The Grade 12 students were a bit unorganized, and there was still a lot of work left to do at the last minute. I helped them out with organizing the space and their artworks which taught me how crucial planning is. It made me realize that even the small details like figuring out where to place the artwork and completing the artworks on time really need some thought and planning. Watching how things got a bit chaotic without a clear plan made me see just how important it is to stay organized. As I start thinking about my own exhibition next year I now know that planning ahead and staying on top of things is super important if I want everything to go smoothly.

LO 7 : Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Working with the Grade 12 students also made me more aware of the ethical considerations behind our choices and actions. Even though the students were a bit behind on their planning we still had to make sure that everything we did respected their work and ideas. It made me realize how important it is to think about the impact of what I do especially in a creative project. Every decision big or small matters and it’s crucial to consider how it affects others and their work. As I will prepare for my own exhibition next year I now know that every decision I make big or small needs to be thought through carefully keeping in mind the respect and responsibility I have towards others work and ideas.
