FSMUN 11.0- Decor & Marketing

I was the part of the FSMUN 11.0 organising committee where I had to help the decor team with ideating decor ideas for the event throughout 3 months (20th September-1st December). I was selected to be a part of the marketing team end minute as well, where I worked to promote the 11th edition of the annual Fountainhead School MUN. Being a part of both teams was an incredible opportunity as I learnt how to manage both, my time management skills and self management skills. I was able to use my creativity while shooting videos and creating posts for social media and coming up with different ideas for the event’s decor.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

This was my first time being a part of any decor team, so I can say that I did develop many new skills that helped sharpen my creative thinking skills as I had to come up with many solutions to overcome challenges that I faced through the journey, such as thinking of alternate resources to use when we didn’t have the ones we needed and how to plan a timeline to finish tasks on time. I definitely developed new skills such as collaboration and creative thinking skills.

LO 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

This journey was not a short one as it took 3 and a half months to prepare for the event. From coming in early everyday from mid September to 1st December, to having constant pull outs for brainstorm sessions and working from home on reels and posts for the social media account, I had to show a lot of perseverance and commitment as it took a lot of time and effort. For this experience, I had to collaborate with people out of school as well to make the event’s reach as high as possible. Our goals would not have been accomplished without dedication from me and my team.

LO 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

As mentioned before, preparation for the event was a team effort and would’ve been impossible without working with lots of people. Being a part of two teams, I really demonstrated collaboration skills as I had to be on my toes with meetings and decor preparation with other people. We divided work amongst each other by knowing each others’ strenghts and weaknesses that we only knew about after working in collaboration. I usually filmed for social media and worked in writing certificates and cutting work for the decor team.

LO 6 – Engagement with issues of global significance

Though I wasn’t a participant in the MUN debates, I did work towards organising an event that promotes young learners to think and critically argue about real, crucial issues faced by the world. I feel like immersing myself into activities that encourages students to think about these issues through the perspectives of different countries in different committees really sparked an interest into combating issues of global significance.

I was honored to be a part of not one, but two sectors of the organising committee, which really helped me draw connections between marketing and decor, which were sectors that are seemingly very different. I have developed so many new skills!
