Taking part in HDP Cricket PS was an experience that was both challenging and fulfilling, and it gave me the opportunity to hone my cricketing ability, think strategically, and collaborate with my teammates. Cricket is a game that requires technical expertise, stamina, and coordination, and this competition gave me the ideal platform to try out and improve these skills. From planning and preparation to actual execution on the ground, I learned a lot about my strengths, weaknesses, and the value of teamwork and determination.
LO 1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
By taking these PS classes, I was able to review my performance and determine my strengths and weaknesses. I knew that my batting style and keeping calm under pressure were among my best qualities. I was capable of playing smart shots and varying my batting approach according to different bowling attacks . But I also realized some aspects in which I was short, like fielding agility and bowling consistency. My bowling was sometimes inaccurate, and my fielding drills’ reflexes were too slow. I realized these areas and used them to set specific goals for self-improvement, pushing me to train harder to become a better-rounded player.
LO 2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
The PS sessions compelled me to come out of my comfort zone and work on a number of skills in my game. A principal challenge was the development of fielding agility because fast thinking and quick reactions are essential in the game of cricket. I would initially have difficulties responding instantly to ground balls and catches, but through persistent practice, I would slowly enhance movement and response rate. The other challenge was to improve my bowling skills. Having a consistent run-up, hitting good line and length, and having pace control were challenging initially. But by constant drills and advice, I was able to gain more control over my deliveries. These challenges forced me to have a growth mindset, be patient, and stay committed to improvement.
LO 3 : Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Practice sessions had to be well-planned and structured in order to ensure that we could utilize our time on the ground to the best of our ability. Every session included particular drills for particular skills—batting, bowling, fielding, and game sense. We also needed to plan match simulations wherein we used these skills in live situations. While our coach led the practice, I personally took charge by establishing personal goals prior to every practice. If, for instance, I was having trouble with my bowling accuracy during one practice, I concentrated on improving that skill during the next. Gaining Knowledge of how to organize my training and prioritize what I needed to work on made me more disciplined and effective in my practice.
LO 4 : Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Following routine PS classes and challenging myself to do better called for commitment and determination. Cricket is a game that calls for physical endurance, mental focus, and patience. Some of the sessions were grueling, particularly when drills had to be done repeatedly to attain consistency. I felt frustrated sometimes because of the mistakes or because I did not see improvement happening right away, but I was taught that being persistent is crucial.By constant practice, I observed improvements in my game and technique over time. The regular training not only made my skills stronger but also instilled in me the importance of discipline and sustained effort towards making progress.
LO 5 : Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Cricket is a team sport, and these training sessions focused on the need for coordination and communication. Whether in pairs for net batting practice, bowling and fielding practice in batches, or match simulation planning, teamwork was the key to a successful training session. At first, there were a few coordination issues in the team, particularly in making field placements or match strategy. But as time passed, we gained a better understanding of one another’s strengths and styles of play. I learned to assist my teammates, provide positive feedback, and adapt my playing style to team dynamics, which are all skills that can be applied to sports and life.
Conclusion
HDP Cricket PS was a valuable experience that enabled me to improve my cricketing skills, increase my physical stamina, and acquire essential life skills like teamwork, patience, and perseverance. Through frequent practice, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses, overcome challenges that involved strategic thinking, and learn the value of structured training.
