University Fair Main Coordinator (Service)

When the school introduced the 2024 University Fair to us, as a student, I was excited to receive the opportunity to interact with colleges around the world and get to know more about the courses they offer. However, managing and hosting such a grand event is also a major task to accomplish, which is why I proposed myself as a student volunteer for the event. This would allow me to both gather volunteering experience for the event while attending the actual event itself.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth –

Initially, the role that was assigned to me seemed daunting since I had to act formal in a professional environment and ensure that all representatives that came to the event felt welcomed and were directed to their respective booths efficiently. However, as I tried communicating with people, I realized that the task was quite easy and interacting with new people was far more interesting than I presumed it to be. They often asked me unexpected questions or made conversations which I learned to answer effectively.

LO2: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

As a volunteer, I had to work alongside different volunteers so that the event ran smoothly. The various tasks had been divided among us in order to make sure that everyone was working efficiently and there was a volunteer to guide representatives at each and every stage. We collaborated to set up booths, guide students, answer questions, and ensure everything runs smoothly. Coordinating these efforts with others helped me develop the ability to work within a team, delegate tasks, and support my colleagues. Working together ensured that the fair was well-organized and that all participants had a positive experience.
