The International University Fair organized by Fountainhead School and The Launchpad Program was held on 22nd November 2024, which was my CAS creativity experience. I was selected as a volunteer and was appointed the role of the main coordinator for the Social Media & Photography. I was working with a classmate, Misha Lilwani, and with the media team of the school. I captured highlights of the event and clicked photographs throughout. I also got an opportunity to interview the students and parents attending the fair for the social media content. It was an enriching experience to learn something new and I’m glad I could add value to the event.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I demonstrated commitment in this experience by sticking the assigned role I have and staying motivated to accomplish it. I was able to be perseverant since I was engaged into something I’m interested in which is photography and media. It was necessary to remain committed and perseverant since it kept me going throughout the event and the photography turned out well.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
I had to work with my classmates in setting up the event and for the photography as well. We needed to demonstrate effective communication for us to capture most of the event. I was able to recognize the skills of my team on who’s better at interviewing and who’s better at photography in order to divide accordingly. It was important to work collaboratively in order to produce a good outcome of photographs and social media content.
Through this CAS experience I developed the learner profile attributes of communicator and knowledgeable. I put my knowledge from photography and social media to use in order to get the best outcomes of photographs for the media team to use. I was able to also use my communication skills not only amongst my team but while interviewing students and parents for their review on the university fair. I learned about the social media reel recordings which was a new exploration and working with the media team gave me even more insights into it. It was difficult to get people to agree for the video clip, however it gave me an opportunity to challenge my communication skills.
Overall, the event was a success and I could execute my role effectively.
