Cross Country Run – Activity

Cross country run is a sport where individuals race outdoor over natural terrain. Participating in the cross country event allowed me to test my physical and mental wellbeing. It was an opportunity for me to test my limits, reflect upon my strengths and push myself further. Participating in this activity allowed me to cater to several learning outcomes.

LO1: Identify your own strengths and develop area for personal growth

Participating in the marathon allowed me to figure out my own strengths and areas for personal growth. I recognized that I had an decent level of stamina however I lacked in proper training for participating in such long distance run. I was able to maintain constant speed throughout the race with sufficient pace which allowed me to complete the race in shortest time possible. After the race, I found out few areas of improvement at which I can work upon to improve my performance that includes improving my agility and focusing on the technique that is used while running.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Completing the cross-country run was an achievement for me as I have never participated in such long-distance run before. Continuously running for such long distances under the sun was very tiring and challenging but I still managed to complete the race and secure a good position amongst the other competitors. I also improved my self-discipline and planning skills throughout the three races. Self-discipline allowed me to have a proper diet and hydration before and after the race for my body to stay hydrated. Proper planning can allow me to complete the race in the shortest possible time while using my maximum potential.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Completing the marathon was not easy especially when I was on the last few steps towards the finishing line. I was covered with sweat and my body was forcing me to slow down however I remained committed to finishing the race in the least time possible which demonstrated my perseverance.

In conclusion, participating in this cross-country race allowed me to self-reflect upon my performance and get to know my strengths and personal areas of improvement. It encouraged me to keep challenging myself and continue to grow both, physically and mentally.
