FS Got Talent- Creativity

The annual FS Got Talent event was a spectacular showcase of creativity, passion, and community spirit. This year’s event brought together students, teachers, and parents for an unforgettable evening filled with diverse performances that celebrated the unique talents of our school community.

As an organizer of the FS Got Talent event, I had the opportunity to engage deeply with several key IB learning outcomes. Here’s how my experiences aligned with these outcomes:

LO1: Identify your strengths and develop areas for personal growth

I identified my strengths in event planning and communication. I was effectively able to communicate with the other peers and teachers. I provided good inputs for the logistics of the event (including decor, the participants, category of the events and more) However, I recognized the need to improve my delegation skills and time management, which I focused on throughout the planning process. At times, it was difficult for me to manage school tasks and the event tasks. I believe better time management skills from my side could have really helped me be without stress towards the end of the event.

LO2: Demonstrate that you have undertaken new challenges

Organizing a large event like FS Got Talent was a significant challenge. I took on responsibilities such as coordinating schedules, managing logistics, and ensuring a smooth flow of the program, all of which were new experiences for me. These new experiences helped me foster better communication skills (contacting team mates and participants), time management skills (managing school deadlines along side the event deadlines), problem-solving skills (solving internal problems as well as other issues with participants)

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

I collaborated with a diverse group of students, teachers, and parents. We shared ideas, resolved conflicts, and celebrated our successes together, learning the value of teamwork in achieving a common goal.

Critical Thinking: I used critical thinking skills to brainstorm ideas for the event in terms of themes and decor.

Communication: I used communication skills to effectively communicate with the peers and teachers to propose my ideas and listen to them as well.

Self-management: I used self management skills (time-management skills) to manage time for the event alongside with my studies.

Collaboration: I collaborated with my peers throughout the process.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

I ensured that the event was inclusive and respectful, considering the diverse backgrounds of participants and audience members. We promoted positive messages through the acts and established guidelines for respectful conduct during performances. Furthermore, it was important to make informed use of resources and stationary. Being the OC head, it was my responsibility to ensure they are an appropriate usage of the resources. I made sure to use pre-made resources, instructed minimal food wastage (during the event day) and made sure that all the decoration items can be reused.

Organizing FS Got Talent was not only a rewarding experience but also a valuable opportunity for personal growth. I gained insights into leadership, collaboration, and the importance of creating a supportive community. The event reinforced my belief in the power of creativity to connect people and foster understanding.

As we look forward to future events, I am excited to apply these learning outcomes to enhance our planning process and ensure that FS Got Talent continues to be a celebration of talent and community spirit.
