FS Got Talent

Creativity Strand: FS Got Talent

FS Got Talent was an exciting event that allowed students to showcase their diverse talents, whether through singing, playing instruments, dancing, or even setting up business stalls for cooking. As part of the organizing team, I was responsible for multiple tasks, including decor setup across various locations, ticket distribution, and ensuring smooth execution on the final day. This event was a true test of my ability to multitask and collaborate effectively while managing different responsibilities.

Learning Outcomes Achieved

LO1: Identifying own strengths and areas for growth
Through FS Got Talent, I realized that I have strong multitasking abilities and can manage multiple responsibilities under pressure. However, I also identified that my time management skills need improvement, as balancing different tasks simultaneously became overwhelming. Learning how to prioritize tasks more effectively would have made my workflow smoother and less stressful.

LO2: Demonstrating challenges undertaken and developing new skills
Managing an event of this scale while also juggling another major responsibility was a challenge that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. Coordinating decor across multiple locations, distributing tickets efficiently, and ensuring everything was in place on the final day required me to enhance my organizational and decision-making skills. Additionally, being part of the FS Got Talent flash mob added a new challenge of memorizing and performing multiple dance routines flawlessly, which helped me develop discipline and perseverance.

LO3: Initiating and planning a CAS experience
As an organizing team member, I played an active role in planning and executing the event. From working on the decor setup in different areas to ensuring ticket distribution was handled smoothly, my responsibilities required me to anticipate challenges and strategize solutions in advance. This experience improved my ability to plan and execute tasks efficiently, an essential skill for any large-scale event.

LO4: Working collaboratively with others
FS Got Talent was a team effort that required constant collaboration with my peers. Whether it was working together on decor, coordinating ticket distribution, or rehearsing for the flash mob, effective communication and teamwork were key to making the event a success. I learned the importance of listening to others, distributing tasks efficiently, and resolving conflicts constructively.

LO5: Demonstrating perseverance and commitment in CAS experiences
Balancing FS Got Talent alongside my role in the Independence Day dance rehearsals was physically and mentally demanding. However, I remained dedicated to both responsibilities, ensuring that neither was compromised. Despite the exhaustion and time constraints, I stayed committed to my tasks, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout the event planning and execution.

LO6: Engaging with issues of global significance
This event highlighted the importance of providing a platform for students to express their creativity. FS Got Talent celebrated diversity, inclusivity, and artistic expression, all of which are globally significant values. By contributing to this event, I played a role in promoting a culture where students could showcase their talents and gain confidence in their abilities.

Final Reflections

FS Got Talent was more than just an event; it was an intense learning experience that tested my ability to manage responsibilities, collaborate with a team, and stay committed despite challenges. The constant movement between different locations, the pressure to meet deadlines, and the responsibility of ensuring everything was in place made it a hectic but rewarding experience. Looking back, I feel proud to have contributed to such a successful event.

This experience reinforced my ability to handle pressure, plan efficiently, and work collaboratively. The skills I developed will undoubtedly help me in future endeavors, making this one of the most valuable CAS experiences I have had.
