Garba fest – (activity)

Garba Fest Reflection

Garba Fest was an incredible celebration of culture, tradition, and togetherness. We played Garba non-stop for 2–3 hours, dressed up in our vibrant traditional attire and dancing to the energetic beats with our friends. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as everyone came together to celebrate our rich cultural heritage. The rhythmic clapping, coordinated footwork, and colorful outfits made the experience truly special.

The event was not only about dancing but also about fostering a sense of unity and connection with our culture and friends. It required a lot of stamina and focus to keep up with the pace for hours, but the energy and excitement of the crowd made it easier to stay motivated.

Connection with Learning Outcomes:

  1. LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.
My strength in staying focused and energized throughout the event helped me enjoy the experience to the fullest. I also discovered that I’m comfortable adapting to group movements and syncing with others while dancing. However, I realized that improving my stamina and learning more complex Garba steps could enhance my performance next time.
  2. LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
Playing Garba for hours without a break was physically demanding. It required a lot of endurance and coordination. Pushing myself to keep going despite feeling tired helped me develop better stamina and rhythm.
  3. LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Being part of this event involved preparation, from deciding on the traditional attire to coordinating with friends to practice some steps beforehand. This experience showed me the importance of preparation in making the event more enjoyable and organized.
  4. LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
Dancing non-stop for 2–3 hours required a lot of commitment and determination. Even when it got tiring, I stayed focused and kept going because the collective energy of the group motivated me to keep dancing.
  5. LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Garba is all about synchronization and teamwork. We had to coordinate our steps and maintain the flow of the dance as a group. The sense of unity and teamwork made the experience more enjoyable and strengthened my ability to work harmoniously with others.

Garba Fest was not only a celebration of culture but also a test of endurance and teamwork. It gave me a deeper appreciation for tradition and strengthened my ability to adapt, coordinate, and stay motivated even in challenging moments.
